Navigator Technology Managing Director

Managing Director and CEO: Alain Hanover
Mr. Hanover has over 30 years of experience in venture
capital, executive management, software development, and engineering.
He has served as CEO for over 15 years at InCert and Viewlogic, as well
as being an early stage investor or advisor in over 20 private companies.
He also co-founded CommonAngels, Boston's leading Angel Investor group.
Hanover has served as Managing Director and CEO of NTV since 2002 and was responsible for the investment in all portfolio companies, along with Rana Gupta, now CEO of HistoRx, a portfolio investment. NTV always has led or co-led the first round of financing in most portfolio companies. As part of the investment process, deep due diligence and technical evaluations of all companies was necessary, utilizing experts from Draper Laboratory, as well as negotiation of terms for investment. Following up on its investments, NTV always obtained a Board seat to continue to counsel and strategize with each portfolio company's management team.
Prior to NTV , he served as Managing Partner of Main
Street Partners, a seed-stage, venture capital firm, where he helped launch
five start-ups: IPVision, SemiDAQ, Bitpipe, ShieldIP and Saoirse. Previously,
he co-founded InCert Software Corporation and led the company as President
and CEO from 1997-2000. In 1984 Hanover co-founded and served as President,
CEO, and Chairman of Viewlogic Systems, Inc., an electronic design automation
software company, took it public in 1991, and grew it to $150M in sales
when it was sold to Synopsys in 1997. He was awarded the Entrepreneur
of the Year Award in 1993.
In the early 80's, Hanover managed VLSI Advanced Development
for Digital Equipment Corporation. Hanover began his professional career
in the 70's as an early employee at the start-up Xylogics, later acquired
by Dymo Graphics and subsequently by Itek. He spent one year prior to
that as a technical staff member of MIT's Lincoln Laboratory.
He currently serves on several corporate and non-profit boards of directors, including Actuality Systems, Inc.; Polychromix, Inc. Sionex Corporation; Tizor Systems, Inc.; HistoRx, Inc.; Gaterocket, Inc., the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the Mass Innovation Index, and is a member of the MIT Venture Mentoring Service.
Hanover holds B.S. degrees in electrical engineering
and mathematics from MIT; an M.S. in applied math from Harvard University;
and an OPM program degree from the Harvard Business School.
